Responsibility

Social and environmental standards are our norm. Everywhere and anywhere.

Due to the large variety of products Wünsche offers its customers, our supply chains are complex To ensure social standards are met by our business partners, our presence in the most important production countries is crucial. That is why our international corporate responsibility teams are active both in Germany and directly on site in the main Asian procurement markets.

Based on the results of comprehensive risk analyses, measures are developed, prioritized, and implemented by our CR colleagues on site. These include training courses, internal social audits, and production checks. Through this direct exchange with our suppliers, we are able to identify potential for improvement and, if necessary, offer and provide support in remedying any findings.

Fair supply chains as a standard – with amfori BSCI.

The Wünsche Group is a member of amfori BSCI, an industry initiative aimed at improving social standards in global supply chains. We are committed to complying with the amfori BSCI Code of Conduct and have ensured that our suppliers follow suit.

Safe and fair working conditions are monitored by means of regular third-party audits, conducted by an independent auditing body.

Towards a safer workplace with the International Accord.

In the wake of the tragedy of the Rana Plaza factory building collapsing in Bangladesh in 2013, the International Accord (formerly known as the Bangladesh Accord on Fire and Building Safety) came into being. In 2023, the International Accord expanded their scope and introduced the Pakistan Accord. The aim of these unique agreements between brands, trade unions and local industry groups is to improve the safety of textile factory buildings in Bangladesh and Pakistan.
Being an Accord signatory means that our partner factories receive regular visits from inspectors and engineers who inspect against strict fire, electrical and building stability regulations.

In addition, all Accord-covered factories receive workplace safety trainings and have access to a well-functioning occupational health and safety grievance channel.

The Wünsche Group has been a signatory of both the Bangladesh and Pakistan Accord since their inceptions. We are firmly committed to workplace safety and believe that this can best be achieved through collaboration and joint initiatives.

Climate protection starts with today's decisions.

As part of the Wünsche Group, we are committed to ambitious climate protection. At the end of 2024, the Wünsche Group set new climate targets that are in line with the 1.5°C target of the United Nations Paris Agreement. The climate targets cover both the emissions generated by our own business activities (Scope 1 and Scope 2) and the emissions of our upstream and downstream supply chains (Scope 3).

With these new climate targets, we are demonstrating our commitment to mitigating climate change. Annual greenhouse gas emissions reporting allows us to reflect on the progress we have made.

Transparency creates trust - also when it comes to chemicals in textiles.

In our textile supply chains, we place a special focus on chemical management in the dyeing and washing facilities. In accordance with the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) guidelines and in cooperation with our business partners, we implement comprehensive chemical management.

The implementation of our environmental requirements in the wet production facilities includes factory visits and audits, regular trainings and individual support, and advice on continuous improvement measures on site.

Certified clothing is better to wear!

We offer products that are certified according to various internationally recognized standards. Using  more sustainable materials is associated with higher social and environmental standards in procurement and production. Appropriate product labeling helps consumers to make well-informed purchasing decisions.

The standards we adhere to include OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), Textile Exchange (GRS, OCS, RWS), Better Cotton Initiative (BCI), and Cotton made in Africa (CmiA).

    Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®)

The FSC® promotes the sustainable management of the world’s forests to safeguard them for future generations. The FSC® label on a product ensures that it is made from material from well-managed, FSC®-certified forests and other controlled sources.

Consumers can thus be assured that we only use material from eco-friendly forestry enterprises. Our application of the FSC® label is testament to our commitment to preserve and improve economically viable, environmentally friendly and socially responsible forestry enterprises.

The Good Cashmere Standard® by AbTF (GCS® by AbTF)

We offer products certified according to The Good Cashmere Standard® (GCS) by the Aid by Trade Foundation (AbTF). This certification ensures higher standards of animal welfare, improved working conditions for farmers and farm workers, and greater protection of our environment.

    Organic Content Standard (OCS)

The Organic Content Standard (OCS) was developed by the Textile Exchange organisation. In addition to a defined minimum content of organic cotton, one of the main criteria for compliance with this standard is traceability of the supply chain.
Thus, transparency within the supply chain is also attained.

    Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)

GOTS is the world’s leading standard governing the processing of textiles and organic fibres. Companies along the entire value-added chain are subject to an annual on-site inspection and must hold a valid certificate. Only then can the final products be classified as GOTS-certified. Our use of the GOTS label particularly enables us to demonstrate full transparency in our production chain, as the cotton can be traced back to its origin.

We are also committed to disclosing the chemical additives used and acknowledging our company’s compliance with relevant environmental and social criteria.

    OEKO-TEX®

We carry products that have been certified with the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100. The  OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 is one of the world's best-known labels for textiles tested for harmful substances. Textile products of all processing stages can be certified, from yarns to finished fabrics and finished articles.

    Responsible Wool Standard (RWS)

The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) is a standard by Textile Exchange. Products certified by GRS contain independently verified recycled content that have met social, environmental, and chemical requirements at each stage of the supply chain, from the recycler to the finished product.

    Responsible Wool Standard (RWS)

The Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) is a Textile Exchange standard. Products certified by RWS contain wool from independently certified farms regarding animal welfare and land management requirements.
